What Sacha Baron Cohen/Borat did to Panela Anderson at the end of Borat was ludicrous. I can't believe that happened.

I'm considering selling my 55 gallon fish tank. You will get the tank, lids with lights, a filter, a heater, all the rocks and decorations you will need, as well as chemicals and food and other accessories (nets, algae scraper, etc), and the stand. I will even throw in several 5 gallon buckets with lids that you can use to transport as much of the water as you want, since having water that is already bacteria rich is definitely a plus.

I'm willing to sell it for a VERY reasonable price of $250. There is just one catch; there are still fish in it. I have 5 black skirt tetras, 2 silver dollars, and a parrot fish. They have all been with me for over 2 years, some longer, and get along fine with each other, and probably other fish as well depending on what they are. You could keep them or find them a new home.

If anybody is interested in just taking the fish off my hands, I would be willing to do that as well.

Anyway I'm just trying to see what the interest is. Reply here or contact me.

I am considering jailbreaking my iPhone. I've been doing some research, and it seems as though I could benefit a great deal from doing this, but there are some downsides too, even though chances are slim.

Does anybody have an opinion on this?

webcomix that fill me with glee Jan. 5th, 2010 @ 10:04 pm
[info]basement
i read lots of webcomix. here are a couple i like very, very much, and am sure you will also like:

Anders Loves Maria is my favourite. it is beautiful. it is a story like life. a life like story. a like story life. so it is lesslike a usual comic, and you need to read it from the beginning. also it is nearly finished, which is a bit sad.

KinokoFry is abominably cute. it has buggs! & munchrooms. and swirly dr seuss backgrounds. and it's by an australian <3 but it's not updated much anymore. i have this one as my desktop background.

Pictures for Sad Children is hilariously bizarre. or bizarrely hilarious. I prefer the later ones after the Paul the ghost story ends.

Platinum Grit is my most long term comic relationship. i started it when i was a teenager! &still love it so. &issue 20 just came out! o &it is another one you need to read from the start. &is also australian!

The Perry Bible Fellowship is also hilariously bizarre. i am beginning to sense a theme. pbf isn't updated anymore, though, boo.

Nedroid Picture Diary is adorable. and sometimes horrible. in an adorable way.

Oglaf is, well.. full of sex. yay! :D i like that on the archive pages the stories have warnings when they are safe for work. haha. possibly i love it so because it's by the same author as platinum grit, which i did not realise for aaaaages.

i tried to put them in a vague sort of order of how much i like them but it was imporrible! i like them all so much! arrr.

does anyone know any others i should see? but plz don't suggest questionable content kthx, or xkcd cuz duh. i just figured everyone already knew that one.

Gone and Back Jan. 4th, 2010 @ 07:36 pm

Decided to go home for the holiday. Took a bus to Cincinnati to get picked up by my NY friend, Mark. From there we ate at Chart House (expensive, but quite nice) and crashed for the night. Next morning, it was off to a Waffle House and then onward to NY. We caught the tail end traffic of the Bills/Patriots game. We got back to his place and crashed there. Met his roommates, ex-roommate visiting and friend of his mate visiting for the holiday. All seemed very nice. =D

Then it was off to MA. T'was good being home. Good seeing Mom again. 1/2 bro is Hot Topic Emo/Goth something. And the other family was there too. :laughs: Good seeing them as well.

The holidays were alright. Didn't get anything really for the holiday in ways of gifts, but that's fine, I didn't expect anything. =P

Saw some friends, mainly Andrea and Brittany. S'a shame I didn't see more people, but what can you do? I had a lovely time w/ them.

Came home a couple days ago. The house is a mess, no dishes really done and I got to use my X-mas money to buy a new dryer for the house. :sigh: Not a great way to return to the state, but that means that it can only only get better, eh?

I get to look forward to hanging out w/ Artic and hopefully go to Lexington this weekend. And hopefully an off late Jan to go off to Ohayo and meet up w/ my Canadian friends. So it looks like it's looking up. =D

Internet ads. Jan. 1st, 2010 @ 04:36 pm
[info]sorethumb
Do you remember the days when there'd be no ads while watching TV shows online?

And then they could only fit ONE ad in between each commercial break?
Now they're sticking two to ... four ads, on some sites... ?
Isn't that ridiculous? I suppose it shows the potential for online video as a medium, but what a pain.

And there was one *explodes* Dec. 30th, 2009 @ 04:44 pm

For what seemed like forever madly chasing my dad, who was driving the moving truck, we arrived late last night to the apartment. I was able to call ahead and get my keys so we could move a bed and some minor conviences in. My first night went pretty well. This morning was more unpacking and then scrounging wal-mart for cleaning supplies and toiletry. After that was a heartfelt goodbye and well wishing from my folks as they drive on to Ohio for New Years festivities and then they go back to Michigan.

Rent has been paid I have cable net and phone online. Only utility remaining is Water and I am doing that tomorrow. As far as packing goes. Bins have been taken care of, boxes remain and the living room is starting to form nicely. I'm going to have to head to the hardware store for some wall hanging tab... thingies but other than that. All looks well. Work begins on the 4th at 8:30am I have to be there with forms & ID readied.

The Christmas Experiment! Dec. 28th, 2009 @ 09:05 am
[info]brianmclean
I tried an experiment this year, since it was an opportune year to try it: Away from my family, I enforced my usual anti-commercialization policy and didn't get anybody anything, and generally speaking everybody politely followed suit, and for that I'm grateful. Where this year went beyond that is that besides a Skype call to the folks I did nothing for the day itself. No party, no feast. I had Jack In The Box for dinner and played WoW and DJ Hero most of the day, just what I said I'd do beforehand. The house was almost completely empty; 3 of the 5 tenants were off visiting family which left just Tren and myself, and Tren's a guy who is perfectly happy sitting in his room all day so that basically gave me the run of the house.

How did I feel? Well, it was kind of curious. On the one hand I definitely enjoyed having lots of me time. I played WoW, I ran heroics, I got lots of badges and geared up my fresh 80. I've nearly finished DJ Hero, and aside from some quirkyness with the turntable I've really dug that game. (Aside: Fellow Bemani nerds, does the turntable drop a lot of scratches or do I really just suck/not know exactly how it works yet?) All of that was great.

Introspection and request )
